The group specializes in parsing high-frequency, complex biomolecular signal streams, focusing on multi-state transition modeling of ionic currents over discrete time vectors. Their algorithmic frameworks isolate true molecular translocation signals from systemic background noise, establishing the sequence reconstruction models needed to decode heterogeneous molecular chains with high fidelity.

Dr. Lu Cheng

Fellow

Dr. Lu Cheng is an expert in machine learning and Bayesian statistics. He is interested in developing machine learning methods to solve computational problems in different biological applications. Current he works on the following: (1) raw signal analysis for Nanopore sequencing data of RNA and protein (2) manifold learning of k-mers for motif discovery and (3) driver gene discovery from single cell sequencing data using large language models. His team will develop the peptide basecalling algorithm for the RamProSeq project.
